Despite the immense effort put in promoting recycling programs by the Hong Kong government, there is still tons of unprocessed waste being sent to the landfills every day. According to the current waste disposal rate, the government estimated that Hong Kong’s landfills will be saturated one by one before mid 2010’s. With geographical constrains, it is very difficult to find new sites for extra landfills in Hong Kong. Therefore, as a responsible user and in order to improve this situation, we ought to change our habits to reduce waste. By reusing and recycling waste otherwise disposed, we can reduce the pressure on landfills and create a better environment.
